Kristen talks Joan Jett Movie

'Twilight' star Kristen Stewart leaves Coast Anabelle Hotel in Burbank with Joan Jett

After being cast as Joan Jett in an upcoming movie, who better to teach Kristen Stewart about rock 'n' roll than the Seventies rocker herself.

The Twilight actress, 19, has been cast as the I Love Rock 'N' Roll singer, 50, in the biopic The Runways.

And to prepare for the role, Kristen has been meeting frequently with Joan, real name Joan Larkin, who has given her blessing to the movie about her first band The Runways.

Kristen, who has just finished filming Twilight sequel New Moon, has dyed her hair black and cut it into a mullet in preparation for her next role.

The two women, both dressed similarity in skinny jeans, trainers with their jet black hair, were seen meeting at the Coast Annabelle Hotel in Burbank on Tuesday before going on to a film production company.

Despite recently turning 50, Joan looked years younger and in remarkably good shape.

Already a guitar player, Kristen has been honing her singing skills for the movie.

On Monday, Kristen and Joan spent several hours recording at Sunset Sound Studios

Kristen said: 'I'm just listening to her music all the time. I'm trying to just make myself aware of the time period and what she was going through.

'It's one of the most immense responsibilities to play a real person. Her story's important. It's an incredibly triumphant feminist story really.

'She's the first woman to ever start her own record label. So many people know her as just being like one of the coolest people to ever live. That in itself is one of the most intimidating things that I've ever had to confront but she's so cool too.'

Joan is equally enthusiastic about Kristen: 'When her hair is cut and with the right make-up, Kristen should make a really good me.

'She sounded great and played well (on the guitar). She has the passion for it, which you can't really be taught.'

The pair originally met over New Year's to discuss the film before Kristen was formally cast in the role.
